Teenage steroid users may face such adverse reactions that don’t trouble adult consumers of steroids

If you read news about steroids, you may claim that almost every article notices about “roid rage” which is considered to be one of the gravest unwanted results of these preparations. Anabolic steroids are blamed for some violations, murders and other crimes. It is noted that these medications may cause uncontrolled aggression which is responsible for abnormal behavior. However it is not proven scientifically whether steroids can really lead to “roid rage”, media mentions about this negative reaction very frequently. Unfortunately, several other serious undesirable consequences are rarely mentioned in articles.
Teenagers must be especially warned about several specific undesirable consequences that may occur in them, if they administer steroids in their teen years. The scientists Leslie Henderson and Ann Clark of the Giesel School of Medicine in Dartmouth confirm that these preparations can have very negative influence on adolescents’ brains. These scientists have conducted several studies and made conclusions, basing on the results of their studies. These scientists notice that steroids may cause in teenagers something more serious than uncontrolled aggression.
According to Leslie Henderson and Ann Clark, steroids are too dangerous for adolescents because this group of consumers may have several specific severe unwanted effects that don’t occur in adult steroid users. The scientists claim that steroids may affect the brain in teenagers. Thus, the brain’s structure and functions can be destroyed in adolescents because of steroids. Furthermore, these unwanted results may be irreversible. It means that brain’s disorders which are displayed through uncontrolled behavior may present even when the teenagers grow up. So, negative psychological effects can be manifested even in their adulthood.
But it is important to note that the studies conducted by Leslie Henderson and Ann Clark have enrolled animals. So, the conclusions have been done on the basis of animals’ reactions to steroid use. One may doubt whether effects of steroids on teenagers’ brains are the same as those on animals. Nonetheless, Leslie Henderson is sure that these statements are true for humans as well.
Furthermore, it has been defined that negative consequences of steroids on adolescents are more lasting than those which trouble adult consumers of steroids.
Leslie Henderson works together with such scientists, as Marie Onakomaiya, Donna Porter and Joseph Oberlander.
Leslie Henderson claims that it is obvious that steroids affect adolescents’ behavior. As we know, the brain controls behavior. Since behavior is abnormal, the brain’s structure and functions have certain disorders.
So, it is important to educate teenagers about all probable dangers related to steroid use. If they know about these probable side reactions, they will be able to make a right decision related to steroids.
