Garrett Reid, a son of the coach Andy Reid, died at his dormitory room. Although Omar Elkhamra, the team physician of the Philadelphia Eagles, tried to revive him, the efforts of the doctor turned out to be in vain. The county coroner affirmed that this young man (29 years old) died of a heroin overdose.
Garrett Reid’s death was a serious tragedy for the family of Andy Reid. Furthermore, the case caused certain problems for the Philadelphia Eagles. The football players had to clear themselves from suspicions connected with steroid use. Certain anabolic steroids were found by local police officers in the dormitory of Garret Reid. Furthermore, syringes and needles were found in his possession too. The steroids were identified by police. It was reported that Garrett Reid possessed Nandrolone Phenylpropionate, Boldenone Undecylenate, Testosterone Propionate and Trenbolone Acetate. Since these medicines were found at Garrett Reid’s dormitory room, some suspicions arose. It was noticed that the coach’s son probably provided these prohibited drugs to members of the Philadelphia Eagles. Thus, the death of Garrett Reid turned out to be a trouble for the whole sport organization.
Some of steroids found at Garrett Reid’ room are fast-acting. These products are usually liked by sportspersons that submit to drug testing. Since they are excreted from the body in short period of time after administration, it is more difficult to catch those that have applied these medications. Thus, it is suspected that such products must have been used by players of the Philadelphia Eagles.
Despites suspicions, nothing was proved. It was not revealed yet whether anabolic steroids were found in the body of Garrett Reid.
The NFL spokesman claimed that he would report when it will be clear whether steroids found in Garrett Reid’s room were connected with Philadelphia Eagles.
